Our new furry baby!!

This is Robbie, our newest furry baby. He had this name from the shelter and so far the kids are calling him the same thing so it might stick for good. He's a tri-colored border collie mix and is about 3 months old. He is a sweetheart. So far Bella is accepting him and the cats are dealing with it. ;-)

Field Trip

On Thursday we went on a neat field trip. We visited a bath & body gift shop that specializes in customized bath & body products. You create the scent you want and have it added to the product you want. We got a lesson in skin and then moved to creating scents to make customized products. Morgan and Alex each created 2 and they will be given as gifts during the upcoming holidays. They had a really good time. The moms decided we needed a special moms night out to go and do something for ourselves. :-) I took pictures...the link is over on the right labeled "By the Brooke - Field Trip".

http://www.bythebrooke.com -- This is the shop. If you are in the area, you must visit. The prices are very reasonable.

Yes We Did!!

WE DID IT!! November 4, 2008 - The good people of the United States of America have voted Barack Obama as President!

What an amazing and wonderful day in American history! We took part. My children witnessed it, lived it. The hope I have for the future of our country is great. To me the results of this election speaks volumes. The people of this country are tired of being divided by race, gender, religion, or anything else. We are all Americans...period. This is the future for our children. Look how far we've come!

This is the lunar landing of presidential elections. For our children this is their "That's one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind" moment.

Election Day

Feel the tension mount! We are hopeful and excited here at the Larabie house. Corey and I were up watching The Rachel Maddow Show last night. We saw Dixville Notch, NH cast their ballots... and then announce their results. Obama/Biden 15, McCain/Palin 6... WOOO HOOO!! Ok, microscopic in the grand scheme of things...but still...the first win. :-D And they haven't voted for a Democrat since the 1960's. Hopeful? Yes!

A friend of mine sent me a link for a Bill Maher Election Party Pack. I am printing off the map for the kids to use tonight. I don't know about Alex but I know Morgan will want to stay up for results. There are buttons, name tags and a betting grid too. The new rules are a must-read and are hilarious. http://www.hbo.com/billmaher/downloads/

Enjoy! GOBAMA!! GOBAMA!!

Ritual

Last night, Morgan and I attended our first group ritual since moving to Tennessee. A friend of mine, her son and granddaughter invited us. We had a wonderful time. It felt soooo good being involved in a group ritual again. That calm, peaceful, coming home feeling. The energy was good and the vibes great. This was Morgan's first ritual with people outside of the Silver Spiral Families group in Tampa. I think she really enjoyed it. I really hope that Corey can attend the next one.

Halloween and Samhain

We had a nice Halloween. Both kids were creative and came up with costumes that didn't involve store-bought costumes. Morgan was a zombie bride (neighbor gave her a wedding dress) and Alex was a robot (saved a big box from months ago). We went to a Halloween party for our homeschool group during the day on Friday and had a wonderful time playing games, eating lots of yummy food, and being with friends. And then we picked up Corey and headed to another Halloween party. Lots more food and friends...good time had by all. The guys took all the kids trick-or-treating around the neighborhood.

Tonight, Morgan and I are going with some friends up to a Samhain ritual up in Nashville. We are excited as this will be our first ritual since moving to TN! :-)
