It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown

Ok, that is the original version. :-) Now here is the Larabie family version....

It's the Great Pumpkin, Alex Larabie!! Alex won the HUGE pumpkin at the CSA customer appreciation day we attended on Saturday. We all entered the "Guess the weight of the pumpkin" contest and Alex was the closest. LOL! This pumpkin weighs 69 pounds and his guess was 70 pounds 15 ounces. The pumpkin weighs more than he does...by almost 20 pounds. And to top it off...this is a pumpkin pie pumpkin. November 1st will see me cutting & cooking a lot of pumpkin! If you are a local friend & reading this...be prepared for some pumpkin after I've cooked it. ;-)

What we did Friday

This was the first thing we did...and the most important. :-) Corey was off yesterday so we decided to take advantage of early voting. The kids were excited. When we arrived at the county election office we were surprised to see so much activity. The parking lot & surrounding areas were packed and there were people coming & going. When we got inside we were in a line of about 20 people. But the whole thing was *very* organized and it went quickly. Alex came with me to vote and I held his hand & we touched the screen for each candidate we wanted to vote for. Morgan voted with Corey. On the way out of the voting area a poll worker commented on me having Alex with me. She said "Starting him early?" And I said "Oh yes, he's been coming since he was born." She smiled and told me that it was great to see.

After voting we headed over to my mom & brother's house. We had plans to spend the day over there. Corey and my brother started working on our next book shelf. Mom, the kids and I headed out to Sam's Club for some shopping. When we got back from Sam's we started 2 batches of chili. Yum! Bella got to play with her doggie cousins and we got lots of family time. The chili got started later than we had planned so we ate much later. Afterwards we played a good game of Trivial Pursuit. Mom, Corey & Morgan against Alex, Michael & me. My team won...by 1 pie piece. Mom is planning on voting on Thursday when she comes down to our house. The county election office is the only place for early voting in our county and it is near our house.

Go vote!

The Talk

Yes, it is that time...kids & adults...have that talk with your parents. I don't want to sound like a person in denial "It couldn't happen to us. I know what my mother would do." But it is true. I don't need to have the talk with her and I do know what she will do. *Phew* Watch the video below and see if you need to have a talk with your parents.

Video I must share

A friend shared this with me, thanks Mama Llama, and I just have to share it with you! By the end you will be singing along. :-)

Signs, signs...

everywhere signs. At least at our house. The kids worked on making some Obama signs today to hang in the house & van. We found some online to print and then they created some of their own.

Morgan's 1st sign...hanging in the front door.

Morgan's 2nd sign...hanging in the living room window.

This is the "Obama Mama" sign for the van.

This sign is the one we altered, then printed.

Last, but not least, this sign was printed for my mom.

McCain/Palin ticket....scariest ticket around!

How can anyone support them, especially HER?? This has nothing to do with the education stuff that is swirling around the web or her gun toting, moose-killing self. It has to do with the fear mongering, scare tactics that they are using...just like the current administration has been doing for EIGHT years!! Do people REALLY want to live in fear?? Don't they get it?? The fear crap is devisive. They are NOT trying to bring people together and do good by our country as a whole. They are trying to scare the hell out of people, divide them up and then promote their personal agenda. Not that ALL politicians don't have an agenda but this ticket is the scariest, most devisive I've seen or heard about in my life! I have always thought that Dubya was an idiot...still do & there is proof now...8 years of it. But if Palin gets anywhere near Washington or the presidency, the people in this country are screwed. The people, the environment, the future... ugh. :-/ She is throwing around the word "terrorist" like it is a joke! I'm sorry but NO ONE should be throwing that word around much less accusing someone of being one, hanging around with them, etc without cold, hard PROOF. Not as a political ploy. That is disgusting. It shows she will stop at nothing to get her own way. She thinks it is funny...she smiles about the whole thing.

I saw this video and just had to share it.

I honestly think that Barack Obama & Joe Biden will do the best for *every person* in our country. Not just those that have the same personal beliefs that they do. I think McCain & Palin will destroy our country and everything it stands for, everything it could be. I think they will only help those that are just like them. And I hate to tell the average conservative Republican...like it or not...you aren't just like them, not in their eyes. Right now they will try to convince you that you are because they want & need your vote. But once they are in office...nope. Do you really think being in Iraq has kept us safer? Do you really think that they will help you keep your job? your house? If you lose your job do you think the money will be there for food stamps, unemployment, any other help you need? Not on your life. And it is our lives we are talking about here....and our children's lives. Think about it.

To end this post I have this link to an article. It is by the *real* original Maverick's...the Maverick Family in Texas. They are not McCain/Palin supporters. :-) http://www.nytimes.com/2008/10/05/weekinreview/05schwartz.html

Morgan's 10th Birthday!

HAPPY 10th BIRTHDAY MORGAN!!

Today our oldest child, only daughter, turned 10. We aren't sure where the time has gone but somehow a decade has passed since she was born. We had some friends and family over for a little party for her. She helped make & frost her birthday cake. She had a good time and did well in the present department. LOL

She has grown so fast and is becoming a young woman right before our eyes. I am not sure we are ready for it at all. And I know it will be here before we know it. Heck, look how quickly the first 10 years have gone by. We are looking forward (for the most part) to the next 10 years, watching to see what kind of young adult she grows to become.

Here she is with her birthday cake. She did the flowers on top. :-) Happy birthday my sweet girl!
